About the Author

After graduating with from York University with her Bachelor of Science in 2019, Dr. Alissa Athanasakos obtained her Doctor of Optometry from the Michigan College of Optometry.

Dr. Athanasakos is a member of the Ontario College of Optometrists and the Ontario Association of Optometrists. She has her Student Fellowship from the American Academy of Optometry and is also a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa – International Optometric Honor Society.

Dr. Athanasakos chose her clinical rotations with an emphasis on ocular disease, completing her externships at a private practice in rural Ontario, the Wyoming Veteran Affairs Hospital and the Great Lakes Bay Health Centers in Michigan.

Accepting and providing eye care to all ages, Dr. Athanasakos is particularly interested in ocular disease, myopia control, dry eye management and contact lenses. She strives to create an approachable, and educational environment for her patients

Outside of the office, Dr. Athanasakos enjoys spending time outdoors, whether it’s hiking, camping or swimming. She enjoys travelling and spending time with family and friends.
