Is there free parking available at Lowy & Sewell Eye Care?
Yes, free parking is available in the large lot just steps from our front door. Our office is located in the mall on the corner of Steeles Ave W and Dufferin St, on the west side.
Where is Lowy & Sewell Eye Care located?
We’re located at 1520 Steeles Avenue W, Unit 119, in Vaughan, ON L4K 3B9. You’ll find us in the plaza at the corner of Steeles Ave W and Dufferin St.
Do you serve patients outside of Vaughan?
Yes. While we proudly serve families throughout Vaughan, including Thornhill, Maple, and Woodbridge, we also serve nearby communities such as Markham, Bathurst Manor, North York, and University Heights. Our central location near Steeles Ave W and Dufferin St makes us convenient for families across the area.
Appointments & Scheduling FAQs
Do I need an appointment, or do you accept walk-ins?
Appointments are encouraged to ensure timely care, but we do our best to accommodate walk-ins based on availability. You can book online or call our office at 905-738-6680.
How far in advance should I book an eye exam?
We recommend scheduling your eye exam 1–2 weeks in advance, especially during busier seasons. We can often accommodate sooner appointments as well. Contact our office to find a time that works for you.
Do you offer emergency eye care appointments?
Yes. If you’re experiencing an eye emergency, please contact us as soon as possible so we can provide guidance and arrange prompt care. Same-day appointments may be available depending on scheduling.
What are your hours of operation?
We’re open Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Wednesday from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and Saturday from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. We’re closed on Sundays.
Insurance & Payment FAQs
Do you accept vision insurance?
Yes. We can directly bill many insurance providers. Please check our website for a list of the insurance companies we can bill directly. Since coverage and eligibility vary between plans, we recommend checking with your insurance provider before your appointment to confirm your benefits and any applicable limitations.
Are eye exams covered by OHIP?
OHIP covers eye exams for certain eligible Ontario residents. Patients under 20 are covered for one eye exam each year. Patients 65 and older may be covered every 12 or 18 months, depending on each individual’s ocular and medical conditions. OHIP also covers eye exams for patients with certain eligible medical conditions. If you have questions about OHIP coverage or fees for services not covered by OHIP, our team is happy to help.

Do you carry designer eyeglass frames?
Yes. We offer a wide selection of designer and premium eyewear, including Masunaga, Blackfin, Silhouette, Tom Ford, Tiffany & Co., Etnia Barcelona, and Ray-Ban, with styles to suit every taste and budget. Visit our Vaughan eye clinic to browse our collection.
Can I order contact lenses online?
Yes, you can conveniently reorder contact lenses through our online store. If your prescription isn’t current, we recommend booking a contact lens exam with our team first.
Do you see children and seniors?
Absolutely. We provide comprehensive eye care for the whole family, including children’s eye exams, adult and senior eye exams, and specialized services at every stage of life.
Does Lowy & Sewell Eye Care offer dry eye treatment?
Yes. Our dedicated Dry Eye Clinic offers advanced treatments including OptiLIGHT by Lumenis and LipiFlow, along with scleral lenses, punctal plugs, and other personalized options to relieve chronic dry eye.
What specialty eye care services do you offer?
Beyond comprehensive eye exams, we provide dry eye treatment, myopia control, diabetic eye exams, digital eye strain management, emergency eye care, eye disease diagnosis and management, and laser eye surgery consultations.
